Nursing Student Recognized for Leadership

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» nursing student Sharnelle Pittman was recently recognized as a 2021 Governor Robert W. Scott Student Leadership Award Regional Finalist.
Pittman was Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»â€™s 2021 Governor Robert W. Scott Student Leadership Award nominee in May. The award was established by the NC Community College System to recognize a student who has demonstrated exemplary leadership.
Pittman is a graduate of Winston-Salem State University. After years of serving the community in the mental health field and raising two children, she decided to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse. She began Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»â€™s nursing program in 2019 and is slated to complete her nursing degree in spring 2022.
At Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³», she is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and has served in several leadership roles since being inducted. She also served as an Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Ambassador and gave campus tours, hosted campus activities, and assisted with Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Foundation events.
In recognition of being named a regional finalist, Pittman received an acknowledgement letter from the NC Community College System and a $250 award.
