�鶹��ýӳ�� Graduates Receive Achievement Awards

Three outstanding members of the �鶹��ýӳ�� Class of 2020 recently received special student achievement awards.

New �鶹��ýӳ�� graduates Enam Jordan, Taylor Redwine, and William Bricen Duff earned top honors for their exceptional accomplishments.

The College held a Drive-Thru Graduation Ceremony on Friday, August 7.

Enam Jordan
Dallas Herring Achievement Award

The Dallas Herring Achievement Award was established to recognize students who embody the philosophy of the late Dallas Herring, the founder of the North Carolina Community College System. He believed that community colleges should take people where they are and carry them as far as they can go.

Enam Jordan was named the 2020 Dallas Herring Achievement Award nominee from �鶹��ýӳ��. She graduated with an associate in arts degree and plans to pursue a four-year degree in business management.

Jordan earned outstanding grades at �鶹��ýӳ�� while juggling a full-time job as a financial services representative at State Employees Credit Union and a part-time position as a youth pastor at Living Faith Fellowship. Also, she and her husband have two young children, one of whom was born while she was an �鶹��ýӳ�� student.

“�鶹��ýӳ�� has given me the flexibility, affordability, and support I needed to be successful in my unique situations,” she says.

Taylor Redwine
Academic Excellence Award

Each year, the North Carolina Community College System honors 58 students for their academic achievements. Taylor Redwine was named the 2020 North Carolina Community College Academic Excellence Award recipient from �鶹��ýӳ��. She received an associate in science degree and plans to pursue a four-year degree in accounting.

At �鶹��ýӳ��, Redwine was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. She was an active PTK member and participated in Adopt-A-Highway, the annual canned food drive, and textbook drives.

“My community college experience has shaped me into the leader that I always knew I could be, and shaped me into the person who I am today,” she says. “I am on the right path.”

William Bricen Duff
Governor Robert Scott Student Leadership Award

The Governor Robert W. Scott Student Leadership Award was established to recognize a student who has demonstrated exemplary leadership. William Bricen Duff is the Governor Robert W. Scott Student Leadership Award nominee from the College. Duff, who received an associate in science degree from �鶹��ýӳ��, also graduated from Edgecombe Early College High School in May.

At �鶹��ýӳ��, Duff served as the Early College representative on the Student Government Association board. He was an �鶹��ýӳ�� Ambassador and was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, assisting in numerous service projects sponsored by this group. He also served as vice president of leadership and new member orientation leader with PTK. Duff enters UNC Pembroke this fall.

“While I do not hold a crystal ball to know exactly what my future holds, I do know that I have learned valuable skills for whatever life sends my way while attending �鶹��ýӳ��,” Duff says.

“�鶹��ýӳ�� is very fortunate and privileged to have a graduating class whose members have performed well academically while proving themselves to be outstanding leaders,” notes Michael Jordan, vice president of student services at �鶹��ýӳ��. “We are proud of Ms. Jordan, Ms. Redwine, and Mr. Duff, and we wish them great success in the future.”
