Celebrating Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»â€™s SkillsUSA Winners
Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» students excelled at the recent SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference held in Greensboro, N.C. April 9-11 that annually attracts 3,000 students. At 55 students, its largest number of participants ever, the SkillsUSA team took home 17 awards across a number of trade, technical and skilled service fields.
The public is invited to a celebration of these award winners happening Wednesday, April 30 from 3pm to 5pm in the multipurpose room of the Barnhill-Jenkins Center for Innovation. Attendees can meet Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»â€™s SkillsUSA competitors and see their projects on display. Participants competed in categories like metalworking, carpentry, engineering, barbering, cosmetology and more.
According to the organization’s website, “SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure that America has a skilled workforce.â€
Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» won eight first-place awards, one second-place award, five third-place awards, two fourth-place awards and one fifth-place award. Seven winners will advance to the national competition in Atlanta, Ga. June 23-27.
